Dark garnet color in the glass, clear looking throughout. Nose of rose petals, roasted meat, white pepper, dried plums and red berries. Flavors of red raspberries, cherries and boysenberries. Medium acidity, drying tannin, full bodied. Drink now.

Wow! Give this wine an hour of air and it opens up with beautiful layers of flavor and complexity. This is one of the best California surprises I have ever had.

On The Road keeps getting better and better in my experience with it since 2011. This, my last bottle, is the best of all, revealing the fullness, depth, breadth and luxuriance of Grenache at its peak. An extravaganza of delights from first swirl to last sip.

Gunpowder. That was literally my first impression on inhaling the first glass of On The Road tonight. Surprising. Tantalizing. Still deep purple in the glass, 27 months after the previous bottle I opened. On the first sip, explosions all across the palate -- blueberries, strawberries, spices, licorice and cedar wood. Finally, crackles of pepper perk up the silky, sinuous finish. Over the night, an intriguing earthiness replaced gunpowder on the nose. But the fulsome flavors remain constant and irresistible throughout. Twenty-One-Gun-Salute!

Very big. Lots of alcohol. Needs a long decant. Much better after 24 hours.
