From magnum, began drinking after 1 hour decant and continued for 2 more hours. Much better than expected all the way through session, with some positive development. Still had a reasonable amount of fruit, good length, acidity with fully body. This has probably peaked and on a slow decline.

Barolo (Vintage v.s. Maker) and others (Extra Space): Appearance is clear, medium intensity, garnet colour. Legs. Nose is clean, medium+ intensity, with aromas of earth, soy sauce, tea leaves, floral rose. Developed. On the palate, dry, medium acidity, medium alcohol, rounded medium tannins, full body. Medium+ flavour intensity, with flavours of soy sauce, tarry earth, tea leaves, and sour red cherries. Medium+ finish. 2 hours into the session and this was fading, with the fruit disappearing. Very good quality Barolo from Aldo Conterno in a lesser vintage. Nicely drinking now on pop and pour. Drink up, will not improve further with age.

Enjoyable but austere; fruit had faded and I felt this bottle was well past it's prime. Interesting, but a bit of a disappointment.

Good for the vintage. Much better than the recent renditions of this wine which show to much oak.
