Community Tasting Notes (1)

  • Overpowering diesel nose. Offputting to say the least. Splashed the wine off into an impromptu decanter (giant beer glass) and there is definite bubbles. (The missive* on the side of the bottle warns this is possible, but will not 'remove the wine's qualities.') Continues with a slick, petrol-laden smell like Commes des Garcons 6 : Garage that has been slathered on a bike chain. Persists even through the next day. While the gas is present, it provides an off-putting medicinal-like effect. Once raised, the wine is a complex blend of thick, oil shale with a taut sweetness and just overly mushy mango. Lots of weight on the palate and very lingering - which is not immediately positive. Oxidative notes and a slight clay taste throw themselves in as well. Ultimately, I liked it a lot though it took a long while for this wine to be enjoyable - either for me to adapt or the wine to.
