  • Brief note.
Another bottle on this little spontaneous Champagne evening.
I was very surprised to learn how good this bottle actually was.
I expected this to be over its prime drinking window, but it was not.
Nose showed a quite mature Champagne, with fine tones of apple cellar, dry hay, nuts and a touch of freshly ground expresso coffee.
Palate was very much alive, if developed, with butter and nuts, bread, apples, good length and good acidity.
Very fine actually, and from a good vintage.
Time to drink, and enjoy while you do.

  • Understated on the nose, with good autolysis (bread 'n' butter) and no signs of oxidation. Food-friendly structure, grapefruit bitterness. But there's something blank and unpersonal about this wine, even if its perfectly well made.

  • nose: fairly full, with apricot and bruised apple leanings. nice, and inviting.
palate: the taste leaves something to be desired. it appears almost bereft of flavor, relying too much upon snappy bubbles and an overly intense lemon rind flavor. Finish medium length and takes upon a mineral sensation, without necessary fruit to back it up. Just OK champagne. Still better than $10 prosecco, mind you.
