  • Never intended to store this, sort of just happened. Have had aged alvarinho before, still a pleasant surprise to find this now with all its original fruit and charm, but with additional depth and concentration. Different than it was young, but maybe if anything, better.

  • Fresh and still lively nose. Aromatic with yellow fruit and mandarin. Hints of wet stone.
Fresh aromatic palate. Good acidity. Light to medium body. Yellow fruit and mandarin. Nice wine that is still fresh.

  • Quite the experiment. Can vinho verde age as I had heard it could? I'm not convinced, but it was fully drinkable. The alvarinho was there on the nose, but fruit was replaced by minerality and a buttery taste in the mouth. Think chardonnay. Quite good with shellfish although the charme from a fresh and fruity vinho verde was sorely missed.

  • I put the nose to the glass and am reminded of Chablis: MInerals and wet stone, chalk, sea weed, but then there are also hints of citrus and apple and some tropical fruits. It's deeper that I might have expected. The palate, on the contrary, make me think more in the direction of dry Riesling, with an intense acid that tickles the glands and really makes them salivate. Just as I like it. But when the drops are swallowed, and you wait for the mineral finish of a dry Riesling, what blends in with the acids and lingers on in a long finish is a lovely peach element. So, it's something inbetween Chablis and Riesling, but it is neither - because it is Alvarinho!
