  • Macerated with the skins for 4 weeks, aged for 18 months in oak barrels. 13,5% alcohol. Tasted blind.

Pale, translucent ruby red color with a light brick-orange rim. Remarkably restrained, borderline mute nose with vague red-fruited aromas and nothing else. With air the nose starts to exhibit some raspberry tones, but still remains very reticent. The wine feels fresh, bright and medium-bodied on the palate with a firm, acid-driven feel and crunchy flavors of brambly raspberries, some cranberries, a little bit of tart lingonberry, light meaty notes of umami and a hint of savory old wood. The overall feel is surprisingly structured because of the high acidity and surprisingly firm and rather grippy medium-plus tannins. Even with lots of air the taste remains rather closed and inexpressive. The medium-long finish is clean, lively and rather grippy with quite restrained flavors of tart lingonberries, some sour cherries, a little bit of meaty umami, light brambly notes of raspberries and a hint of stony minerality.

A pleasant, tasty and enjoyably structured red wine from the lighter end of the spectrum, showing surprisingly grippy tannins for a wine of this size. At first especially the nose was conspicuously mute, but fortunately at least the taste exhibited some characteristics. Overall the wine showed good freshness and sense of structure, but aromatically the wine was just way too closed for true enjoyment. Thanks to its very reticent nature, it was very hard to get a good picture of the wine. Based on the light color and quite firm and grippy tannins, my first guess was a Piedmontese Nebbiolo, either a Langhe Nebbiolo or Alto Piemonte, with a wild secondary guess being an old-school Trousseau from Jura. I was not that surprised to learn that this was a red Burgundy, because I've learned Jadot makes the wines rather rustic and tough - instead I was very surprised to learn the wine was actually 2006, because it didn't show any obvious developed qualities! Although this was perhaps because the wine showed very little of any qualities. All in all, the wine might be in a slump now, so I'd leave it be in the hopes it would open up in the future. At least the wine seems to be built for the long haul. For current enjoyment the wine was somewhat of a disappointment, thanks to its quite mute nature.

  • Swe: tegelröd, rostig färg. Snäv doft med mkt alkohol. Taninerna hade mjuknat något och jag upplever det som lent och inbjudande. Vi åt grillbricka till men inte för kraftiga smaker och det fungerade fint. Ingen bärig smakexplosion men elegant. Drick nu!

  • Swe: klar jordgubbsfärg allt ifrån tjock! Frisk doft men flyktig. Påtaglig alkohol som även visar sig i smaken. Smaken är något så när balanserad och mineralig med kalk och renhet. Snävt avslut. Taninerna finns där och de skulle gifta sig bättre med en gräddsås än grillat nött med vitlöksmör.
