  • Light yellow, green, grey. Petrol is coming out. Nice pear, some wild flowers. Great acid with a touch of mineral. In a nice place.

  • Auction Dinner - Courses 4 & 5. This was the perfect wine to serve with the Cold Water Lobster Tail (course 4) and Salad of Shaved Fennel, Bosc Pears, & Baby Arugula (course 5). Grenache Blanc is so new to most people's palates that it draws enthusiastic responses. The wine continues to be elegant, multi-layered, and substantial, yet crisp and playful enough to compliment food rather than overtake it. Nice counterpoint to the richness of the lobster, and perfect balance to the bright flavors of the salad. I continue to be impressed with the versatility and beauty of this wine.

  • Very pale lemon colour in the glass, this Grenache Blanc has mineral and earth on the nose with a faint background aroma of petrol. The palate initially suggests a hint of sweetness - showing fresh berry fruit and vanilla - but finishes with a steely acidity.

  • Same as previous tasting note, though slightly more elegant with a few more months bottle age.

Wine Tasting Group Comments (never had wine before):
Lots of citrus and floral notes in the nose and mouth. Very smooth mouthfeel. Short finish. Very refreshing. Great summer wine. Medium dry with lots of fruit flavors without sweetness.

  • The odd thing was I kept thinking this lacked typicity of Gewurztraminer. Then I remembered, duh, its Grenache Blanc. Lovely perfumed nose. Refreshing and easy to drink. Some complexity but really "drinkable". what's not to like. But what makes it outstanding? Pure fruit, think white peaches. An oily texture and easy to drink. Well balanced. This and Curran's (sp?) version really make me think SoCal NEEDS to make more of this varietal. Well done.
