Very enjoyable to drink. Enticing port nose followed by juicy acidity, iron, dark prune/raisin and licorice notes. Just a slight hint of oxidation on the palate but still very smooth and elegant. Reminded me of a Lopez de Heredia Rioja.

Very glad others mentioned the oxidative nose, or I might have thought the bottle was madeirized or otherwise flawed: we're not talking about a subtle hint, here, it really gives has a pronounced scent of sherry right out of the bottle, along with some red fruit. No heat at all, in spite of the 14.5% alcohol. None of the sherry tones followed through on the palate, which was primarily red berries, mainly currants and cherries. Very sharp, juicy acidity, and a medium-length, strong-flavored finish made this a particularly food-friendly wine - right up there with the '06 Jadot Clos de la Commaraine as my favorite dry wine of the night.
None of that does anything to convey how truly different this wine was from anything I've had in a long time, though: I suppose "orange wines" are a parallel, among the whites, but this is clearly a red - and a good one. I'm curious as to how the next bottle will strike me: I suspect the novelty made this especially fun.

Quite a bit of oxidative/sherry notes that reminded me of an older barolo. This eventually blew off and what's left is some nice licorice and well integrated acidity. Pretty good I'd decant next time to get rid of the oxidation.

Few tannins left but all fruit is gone. Not much life left, unless this bottle was off.

Roses, tar, and bing cherries. Someone called it "toxic." Still immensely tannic and young, excellent wine.
