Deep golden in the glass. Nose is quite generous, blasting off with aromas of dried apricot, peach, jasmine, orange marmalade, lemon zest. The palate is quite expressive, but I didn't find a lot of acidity here as with previous vintages I've tried. Still nice to drink though, but will not keep for long.

A decade of additional aging has created a sweet, beauty. Rich, lush, and a touch spicy, you also enjoy a wealth of candied orange rind, apricots, vanilla bean, roasted nuts, and overripe pineapples coated with honey in every sniff and sip. This is a rich style, but it comes along with ample acidity so the wine always feels lifted and never cloying. Drink from 2023-2040.

Mixed bag (The Kenwood): A good sauternes for sure, but it didn't stand out.

Luis rides again @ The Kenwood: PnP - I have quite a few Sauternes in my cellar, but no 2008s, so this was fun to taste! I was pleasantly surprised because (1) I thought 2008 was just a so-so vintage and (2) I find Guiraud inconsistent from vintage to vintage. Therefore, I was pleasantly surprised when I tasted this wine! Slight hint of petrol, with honeysuckle, peach, apricot and orange rind on the nose. The palate showed plenty of honeyed stone fruit, dried apricot and dreamsicle on the palate with hints of baking spice. The wine was sweet, but not cloying. A great way to end the evening! 92+

Mixed WTDS at The Kenwood (The Kenwood, Mpls, MN): Light gold color. PNP, drank a glass over 30 minutes. Well this was darn good. This was my first opportunity to try the '08 and it was excellent. Deep and full bodied, orange marmalade, mango, peach and orange blossoms, vanilla cream, honey and honeyed spice box. Very vibrant and well lifted this drank great. 92+ to 93pts.
