  • quite deep hue.
Threw a fair amount of sediment.
The nose suggests excellent ripeness with plenty of red fruit.
Even after 34 years the fruit character dominates with the tertiary elements waiting in the background.
in retrospect, I should have decanted this bottle.
It has the slightly heavier aspect that a number of st Estephe wines seem to carry.
The mouthfeel is quite rich; almost atypical for a classic Medoc wine.
it finishes on an earthy note, accompanied by a little heat

  • 5th tasting with similar notes.

Pronounced nose of cooked red fruits, mushroom, earth. Medium+ acidity and medium tannin.

  • 8 decades tasting. Again petroleum, fruit, a bit of animal sweat and animal scents. Goes very very well with deer carpacchio and pine nuts. Perfect match. Marked acidity. Developes nicely with air. Good wine.

  • Looks much younger. Jan guessed Medoc 2006? Just slightly brownish rim. Black pepper, some dark fruit, petroleum above all other scents. Not negatively connotated. Structure and perfect acidity made us love this wine. After one hour open in bottle perfect. A great joy!

  • When I pulled the cork out, I lost my hope, that this wine will be any good. Cork was completely soak and almost black

First sip and I knew that it would be good, third glass and I know that this juice is delicious! Flavors of milk chocolate, cocoa, mocha mixed with black cherry, blackberry, tobacco and spice( that lasts from the beginning to the long end).
Velvety texture, vivid acidity, soft tannins. Perfect balance, perfect harmony, addictive taste. Unfortunately the smell is very weak ( weird)
Some tobacco, some leather, something sweet.
Well...I blame it for the cork 🙂
