I truly have not experienced enough vintage ports to give this a good comparison, but I have to think that while Clay used traditional port grapes and techniques that the Rockpile is not just a port style wine, it's its own unique dessert wine. Not overly sweet, but brimming with deep fruit and notes of chocolate, and dried berries. Concentrated and smooth. It is not just good with dessert, it IS dessert.

Not quite a port, but very close. Fantastic after-dinner drink goes well with any muted sweets.
