With Doug and Debbie, socially distanced dinner in their yard. Last bottle from a batch bought 10 years back, have not tasted in 5+. Chilled, PnP.
Deep gold color. Nose showing candied citrus, toasted oak, lees, baked sugar. Palate of marinated orchard fruits, honey, creme brulee, "yellow liqueur", almonds. Beautiful secondary notes of almonds/nuts through the mid palate. Full body and long finish.
One the bottles I probably forgot to drink for a while, glad it made the distance. This is a 13 yr CA Chardonnay drinking like an aged white Burg. Rich and expressive, layers of flavor. It was nice to let this warm in the glass over the time we drank it, continued to improve over 90 minutes. If you have this, time to try it. One of the stars of the show for me on this evening...

Sadly, our last. No change from 2/24/14 except that I bumped the rating up two points. This is an '07 California Chard drinking like a 15 year old French white burgundy. Kudos to Rudd. Beautiful. No flaws. No sediment. Light to medium golden yellow color. Soft nose of citrus fruits and white flowers. No tannin. No acid. Medium alcohol and medium finish. Have no clue where this gem is in its drinking window. Certainly not beyond peak and certainly most drinkable.

Tasted one day after the 2007 Leeuwin. Tough comparison for the Rudd, which seemed clumsy and brutish next to the more refined Leeuwin. The oak treatment also was more pronounced in comparison. Spouse loves this style, so she would give it a higher score. My lower rating from one year ago reflects the relative difference from the recently scored Leeuwin. The Rudd is a nice wine, but not in the same class as the Leeuwin.

Lemon Zest, Jackfruit, Passionfruit, Fig, Honeysuckle, Crème Brulee, full bodied and better than previous bottles drank years ago.
