Inky dark purple with staining legs. Medium plus intense aromas of blueberry, stewed dark berries and plums, black licorice, jolly rancher grape (it's there, but not overly artificial), very lightly toasted marshmallow and a good measure of underlying complex gaminess. Medium plus acid balanced by medium plus, super fine tannins. Surprisingly fresh dark fruit considering the age of this Napa Syrah. I always like this wine and actually think this one might age a bit longer. Better QPR at the initial release price of around $60 (wish I'd bought more then), but still good at the $95 I paid for a couple of the last bottles.

I brought this to Cellartracker offline at Jimmy G's. My first bottle of a six pack purchased from the winery. Dark, opaque purple. A floral nose with dark fruit, smoked meat, and vanilla. Ripe, full palate of sweet, spicy dark fruit, cedar and pepper. A savory element. Excellent length. Refreshing acidity. Sweet, young tannins. I love everything Constant produces. You can taste the mountaintop.

Tasted blind at a CT Offline at Jimmy Gs in Cincinnati. PnP at the table and splash decanted. All we knew was that it was a Syrah from "somewhere". Hard to get a good handle on the color due to low light in the restaurant. Appears to have a bit of age. I guessed 2009. The nose was very nice, showing development from some bottle age, with med intensity medicinal aromas (iodine?), certainly ripe plums, charcoal embers, a bit of raw meaty notes. Smelled restrained and a bit elegant, but I felt it was a new world wine from the nose. The palate showed off a dry wine, med+ in body and alcohol, with fresh med acidity, and med level tannins that felt firm but fairly well rounded, just starting to integrate nicely, showing this wine is just starting to enter into its drinking window. The flavors were moderate intensity, revealing plum, black cherry, menthol, and charcoal. Certainly seemed to have a ripeness/sweetness to the palate that said new world to me, although this wine was elegant and restrained, a very well done Syrah. The finish lasted 45 or so secs and was full of black fruits and charcoal, with some minerality. Quite nice. This is a very good quality wine, well balanced and starting to show nice levels of complexity, drinking well now, but will further improve over the next 3-4 years of bottle age, and drink well through 2023. My guess was a very well done 2009 Washington State Syrah (reminded me of Ross Andrew Syrah- Boushey Vyd, one of my favorites from Washington).

Absolutely love this wine. Constant emails me every few weeks. Next time I get one, I'm buying a case of this beauty.

Dark purple. Dark berry nose. Lots of ripe fruit, some pepper and spice. Long, complex finish. Very good.
