Clear plum in color, very little if any nose, not obnoxiously "fruity," light but well balanced....a very pleasant deck wine, perhaps with a mild cigar. Not a great wine, but a great value.

For an inexpensive screw cap wine, Garnet is quite nice. Color medium/dark cherry red. Nose is elusive with hints of yeast and strawberry. The typical California Pinot jam is balanced by good acidity and a slightly lower alcohol content. Light to medium body with good balance. Has a bit of finish and is a great value for a $20 wine. Good for a group when Grand Crus would be wasted. Pulled out as a comparison (!) with a Raphet 1993 Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru.

This one was the clunker of the flight. Not a bad wine but not up to the likes of the RM, Ghost Horse or Bedrock offerings we drank with it. Kind of pedestrian Carneros PN. I shouldn't be so hard on it considering what it went up against but it was just average tonight. We have another bottle that we'll ahve to visit tomorrow to be fair.

Very light and balanced, but was hoping for a little more depth. Refreshing drink before drink though.
