At 16 years old this bottle still showed the familiar geranium aromas of classic CRB Gamay, though at this stage the pyrazines are more prominent than the primary fruit. This bottle had a lot of fine sediment and pouring it through a paper coffee filter helped a lot.

In a lovely place right now. The fruit tends toward red plum, with a sense of something floral/herby/spicy too that is hard to identify and changes with time in the glass (geraniums? tarragon? cinammon? I give up). Anyway, it's smooth as silk on the palate and seems like it would be very versatile with food (though I only got to try it with roast chicken). Wish they were still making this.

Popped and poured. Nomacorc. Aromas of red fruit, menthol. Flavors of tobacco leaf, red fruit, earth. Delicate cherry finish. Firm acid, subtle flavors, some complexity. Lackluster at first, gains depth and energy with air time. It seems to get better with each sip. Drinking well, probably in its prime.

Amazingly, this is still pretty drinkable. Will it ever die?
