  • A: Very pale and water-like
N: Nectarine skin, unripened stone fruit and a whiff of plastic what i usually get in a grüner.
P: A very slight fizz on the palate. Mouthfeel medium and up. There is which fleshed peach, red grapefruit and lime. Sets the acid up nicely. Slight metallic taste here. This is dry which is really unusual for a German Riesling.

C: Never had a dry riesling from Germany but here it is. Bottle design is hideous but i find it an alluring beverage. I hate that i like this. Tastes good cold or at room temperature. Damn this German Temptress.

  • the vineyard is Xavier Flouret Kavalier2007 -- impossible to find or add this vineyard. This wine was recommended by the shop and I agree it is:
    1. balanced
    2. dry
    3. good structure and minerals, yet it lacks a certain excitement. The wine seems to be "playing by the rules" when a riesling should play it wild. It is dry, med acidity, no tannins, med body, med to low alc, and a finish of minerals and slate and the seed of tree fruit. Only a touch of perceptible sweetness though the rs is 8.4 g/l. It is NOT typical of the Mosel, which have more character, yet I respect that it is dry as a bone.

According to tech notes, the soil is finelly weathered slate and steep south facing mountain slops facing the mosel river.

the vines are old and ungrafted, and fruit is concentrated from smal berries. 63 ha/hl

long cool fermentation on the skins.

I think this is a great "restrained" and balanced wine

  • Clean, crisp, bordering on off- dry red delicious apple with oh so subtle hint of marmalade/petrol. Good QPR
