Not amazing but I liked this better than some other reviews. For a very good price it has some enjoyable characteristics of older burgundies - musty, smokey but not overpowering.

Similar to other bottle. Moldy, earthy nose, oxidizer character. Didn't get any better in the glass or over the night. A little harsh on the palate and just not that pleasant to drink.

K&L Burgundy Tasting (K&L Los Angeles): The nose was rather moldy to start, but this became more damp earth as it evolved in the glass a bit. There was some dark fruit on the palate, but this seemed a little lacking in acidity. The tannin on the finish had a rather pronounced bitterness. There was some browning around the edges, commensurate with the age.

Inexpensive Burgundy-Goisot, Renaud, Ballorin (K&L Wines, San Francisco): Tawny center, very light edge. Odd mixture of stalkiness and artificial candied quality; I wonder if this was chaptalized. Big for Volnay, brooding, rustic and tannic. Unattractive and more in the Pommard than Volnay mold.
