  • Removing the cork from this wine made me think it had no chance, it had risen a little, mold on the top and really musty and pickled upon removal, but, just a few minutes to let that blow off and already a smell of sweetness began to creep out from beneath it. The wine poured into the glass a pale red/tawny colour with a nose of gentle sweet fruit and wet autmnal leaves. On the palate, more of that sweet fruit balanced by good acidity and almost fully resolved tannins with good length on the finish.Went superbly with a simple roast pheasant. Very enjoyable.

  • Cork reveals that this was made by Andre Chapelle. Translucent colour between garnet and tawny. A charmer, this wine has a lovely smooth texture and just enough acidity. After the bottle stink blew off, it was pretty vigorous and did not taste like it was on the way down - though I would drink this soon. This stood up remarkably well to an Epoisses cheese.
