double decanted for an hour, initially some fig notes that subsided quickly. beautiful clean body, clear miniscus, sweet and savory flavors. Really good. no signs of decay but at a point it's hard to see a reason for waiting.

Slightly sweet and stewed right from the start, but firms up with air show marks of brown fruit, dark plum, animal notes, leather and spices. I believe this is fully mature now and won’t improve with further ageging. Complex, interesting.

Drinking very well - cork a little troubling before opening - thought I might have had a bad bottle, with some funk which blew off quickly. This was excellent - as the previous poster noted the Sangiovese is coming through strongly. Leathery and floral quite similar to a good Brunello. Mid length finish - 40 seconds. A fair amount of sediment. Cellared since purchase in 2005, and unfortunately my only bottle. Paired with excellent pizza from Frank Pepe.
The Sangiovese is showing through here with distinct marks of animal, tobacco and dried fruit. Soft and smooth palate feel, moves with lightness and elegance with dark fruit and spices. Blossoms with air. Great wine.
