Popped and poured. Really need to have a talk with Darby about the wax on the top of the bottle. I know it gives the bottle a little je ne sais quoi, but I have to pull out the cheap (crappy) cork screw to get into it. First hour the wine was leaning too heavily on the barrel and not enough on the fruit. After a while there were aromas of black cherry and sugared plums. More cherry on the palate with some strong tannins. Decent mouthfeel. Finish is a little short, but clean. Hoping that the oak calms down a little bit with time. If so, then I'd purchase more, it not then i'd probably pass.

Aroma: Red plum, raspberry, blackberry; some mildly dusty tannins and depth are clearly present too.
Flavor: Smooth and drinkable immediately, with a nice balanced palate of soft, rounded fruits. sour cherry and blackberry, and assertive acidity; probably wouldn't age this much more than a year or so after 2011.
General impression: Nice effort, very enjoyable wine for the price.

Woodinville Wine Tasting (Woodinville, WA): 40% Cabernet Sauvignon, 40% Merlot, 12% Cab Franc, 8% Petit Verdot. Not as tasty as the Purple Haze, in my opinion. Almost too tannic, and not giving up much flavor at the moment. Not sure on the barrel regime between the two, but this wine seems like it is built to age much longer, and perhaps needs some more time to integrate. Lots of cherry fruit, but a ripple of greenness throughout that I didn't like so much.

Quite young, but a nice little fruit bomb. Enjoyed alongside a 1999 Paloma Merlot, and Neyers Chard. Held court nicely.
