Burg Grand Cru night at Bishan. My bottle. Drank in Grassl Cru. Tasted when just popped, and then again after 7 hours of air in bottle. Appearance is clear, pale intensity, ruby colour. Legs. Nose is clean, medium+ intensity, with aromas of dark floral violets perfume, wood spice, ripe dark red cherries, earth later on with more air. Developing. On the palate, dry, high acidity, medium+ alcohol (14%), structured integrating high tannins that softened considerably after the air-time in bottle, medium+ going on full body. Medium+ flavour intensity, with flavours of concentrated dark red cherries, ripe strawberry coulis, toast and woody spices, emerging earth. Long finish. Good quality. Good ripe substance and a dollop of oak in a structured honest package. Just feels simplistic and lacking the feeling of complex layers.

From Barrel. Much darker fruits here than with the Nuits or Vosne. Almost black. The wood is very noticable here and is helping contribute a lot of spice to the wine. A bit of roasted game too. Round palate, moderate acidity. Finish was a bit shorter than I would of expected, but still very acceptable.
