Grosses Kino. 98 vvPunkte

A spectacular bottle.Gorgeous, complex nose displaying a compelling mix of rich ripe dark berries, plums, smoked meats, garrigue, spices, hints of tar and iron .... Big,rich, creamy and luscious, there is such a wonderful purity of fruit in this wine. The palate is very powerful and refined, complex and harmonious, with a miraculous sense of lightness despite its insane concentration. So great, this is mind-boggling.

layers of fruit give this wine an opulence, and the richness is well balanced with acidity to keep a lighter frame on it …it was hard to put the glass down. I would like a little more exotic character like licorice and spice that can come from aged grenache….and was more apparent in some CDPs we had alongside this

i have to agree with jeff Leve in that this is the best Châteauneuf-du-Pape i have ever had. big, strong and vibrant from the first taste. we decanted for 3-4 hours and it was so big and rich without being overly sweet. Tremendously dense, yet perfectly balanced. although this is not cheap, compared to similar experiences in other regions, its a bargain

(Château de Beaucastel Châteauneuf-du-Pape Hommage à Jacques Perrin) Very dark red violet color; brett, tobacco and garrigue nose; tart, dense black fruit, tart plum, brett and leather palate, basically disappointing and possibly at least slightly flawed; medium-plus finish
(Château de Beaucastel Châteauneuf-du-Pape Hommage à Jacques Perrin) Lovely roasted plum nose; yummy, rich, solid, young and tight yet, roasted fruit and leather; long finish (60% Grenache, 20% Mourvedre, 10% Syrah, 10% Counoise)
(Château de Beaucastel Châteauneuf-du-Pape Hommage à Jacques Perrin) Beautiful chocolate, white pepper nose; gorgeous boysenberry, beef, plum, spice palate; long finish
(Château de Beaucastel Châteauneuf-du-Pape Hommage à Jacques Perrin) Meaty, coffee nose; very tasty, sexy, roasted meat, plum palate with a touch of horseradish; medium-plus finish
(Château de Beaucastel Châteauneuf-du-Pape Hommage à Jacques Perrin) A little barnyard on the nose; very concentrated, boysenberry, meaty, seductive palate; long finish (decanted 3 hours before serving)

Intense and deep. Tiny bit of oxidative funk in the end - perhaps a bottle issue. Long.
