  • Very dark. Nose of black berries, iodine, cinnamon sandlewood. The black berries carry into the palate where the fullsome tannin takes over. This is a powerhouse! The finish is long and a little dry. The fruit is very fresh and enjoyable so I suspect this has years ahead of it.

  • First bottle in probably five years, and my last bottle. The cork was perfect with an ink stained base and no seepage up the neck. In the glass this presents a dark plum color (nearly opaque) with no bricking, and defying the age for two other drinkers. No decant.

Aromatically tight on opening. After 30 minutes or so this offers up aromas of vanilla, creme de cassis, briars, and spice cake. On the palate the tannins present on the attack with black tea followed by rich blackberry preserves, herbs, smoked cherry wood, pepper, and a dusting of cocoa that coasts into the finish where the blackberry preserves come back to settle in for the extended finish. As the bottle was exposed to additional air the chocolate and blackberry preserve notes were pronounced and elegantly presented.

While this was mature and a delight to drink, it probably remains enjoyable through 2026 and perhaps into 2030. Charming and off the charts QPR as I look what I pay for wines these days. Outstanding.

  • Heidelbeere, Bitterschokolade, Kaffee, Zedernholz, Röstaromen, ein Hauch Orange; Massen an feinkörnigem Tannin, kräftiges Säuregerüst, langer, vollmundigen, leicht zehrender Abgang. Verbessert seit der ersten Flasche

  • Last bottle, decanted, ripe dark fruits, balanced not a blockbuster but delicious.

  • Initially savory with menthol and herbs. Then dark berries, cassis, bit of vanilla. Med tannin, quite low acidity. Velvety smooth. Has a few years left for sure. Great with beef stew.
