  • Dougie comes to town (Chicago, IL): Eh, it is what it is. A fairly restrained California pinot, this still doesn't hide what it is, with its hint of cola and overripe pinot flavours. Some heat on the finish. Not the most pleasant but certainly not offensive. I couldn't drink a glass of this though.

  • having dinner at Prime 13. marty brought this to the table. shared with sandy, me and pat. marty had previously brought a bottle to dinner at my home on 5/27/2012. my impression of the wine is substantially the same as last time. previous note quoted as follows: " this was serious stuff. a review of tasting notes by others starting in 2009 suggests that this wine has evolved nicely in the bottle. it is just now starting to show it's full complexity. it also needed some air at the table with full expression after about 20 minutes. perhaps it would have benefited from a decant. beautiful ruby color. nose is forward. rich in the mouth. long finish. i wish i were endowed with the taste buds and the vocabulary to describe all the herbal notes mentioned by others. this is the kind of wine that makes you want to keep putting your nose in the glass." the wine has developed somewhat since last tasting but continues to be vibrant. presently the wine shows both complexity and finesse. particularly enjoyed the typicity of this better than average cali pinot with generous cherry notes and long follow through on the palate.

  • This was the final bottle of six, solid CA pinot noir. No signs of fading, still lots of upfront fruit. Could go at least another 2-3 years.

  • Still going strong, showing more tertiary notes and flavors than I remember. Should drink well through 2015. Solid.

(Keller Estate Pinot Noir El Coro) Medium cherry red color with pale meniscus; tart red fruit, floral and berry syrup nose; nice, floral, delicate, cherry, tart strawberry palate with balance and good acidity, very pretty; medium finish (planted in '99; El Coro is a 20-acre block planted to seven different clones)
