This is the new white from Alpha Estate. An oak fermented Chardonnay, not commercially released yet. Lemon yellow-green in color. Nose: The good news: oak is subtle. It is intense initially but gives way to the fruit (peaches and apples) and minerals, remaining on the background. The bad news: the fruit lacks purity. It has this detergent-like feel so often encountered in Greek whites, especially from international varietals. Palate: Mid-bodied with nice balance between fruit, acidity and sweetness Finish: Fairly long Overall: I was expecting an overly oaked, big Chardonnay given this estate's attitude. Luckily, this one is fruit-driven with moderate alcohol and subtle oak, its main draw-back being this artificial aromatic profile. Nevertheless, the wine is just bottled and primary. I will give it another try after some months. Price has not been announce yet, so no comments on QPR.

Compared to my previous tasting, the oak is now much more obvious. There is also a rubbery smell and flavor that overshadows the fruit. That said, the mineral component is still there and the fruit, possibly undergoing an awkward phese now, might recover one day. Nice acidity and long finish.
