  • Fresh lemon oil and tonka bean give way to saline, marine and green umami nori notes. A sweet, generous mouth is balanced with a bright acidity and a very slight bitterness which pairs very well at the table.

  • A majestic golden color. The nose starts off with a big, fresh whiff of sea breeze, but quickly the bread dough starts to take over. There is plenty of ripe red apple, apricot, torrefaction and some smoke, along with cognac-esque oak and vanilla. Expressive, articulate and obviously a BdB from the CdB, I don't find the oak dominant. The mousse is large, dense and very persistent. It is hard to tell where the foaming really ends but the overall mouthfeel is quite rich and dense with acidity that is just through the roof. Oak is again evident but again not able to oppress the racy chalkiness and the salty minerality provided by the grandish pedigree of the wine. The 4.5g/l dosage is absolutely perfect for the fruit's ripeness. Plenty of fresh, ripe apple but this is so not about fruit. Very structured with a lot of life ahead; very firm and poised. Doquet is just a masterful BdB producer and I find his wines to offer great value. I paid 35€ for this a couple of years ago, making it superb QPR.

  • This is dissapointing. This lacks excitement on the palate. Two boottles drank with the same comment. This is boring champagne sourced from a great source. Not impressed by Doquet's champagne from this vintage and this site

  • Just plain lovely. Brioche, fresh ground coffee, autolysis on the nose, razor acidity and a little lemon twist to finish off with. No longer restrained in any way, this is blooming now, showing all you could wish for in a wine from a talented winemaker blessed with lovely vines. Wish there were more champagnes made like this. Still has a long life ahead. The cuvée 'Le Mesnil grand cru' takes it to a higher level, I guess, but this is really good right now!

  • Solid grower champagne notes of lemon, brioche, yest and mild baked apple, efferesence is inoffensive and light body finish could be a bit longer
