  • There was an odd almost styrofoam component to the bouquet for awhile...don't know if this is telling of something to come or some odd expression I was picking up; but that's why I dropped the score to 86. Vino Me was right on with the lychee, mineral, peach and white pepper. I also picked up on a new honey aspect of the sweetness that wasn't there before. Acidity is still holding. There is plenty of life left and does seem to be showing some development. I'll check back in a year or so.

  • Bohemian Duck Dinner (Pinot and Riesling) (New Buffalo, Michigan): This single vineyard wine is made in a spatlese style with comparable sweetness. 11% alcohol. 311 cases made. The winemaker considers this his best Riesling site. The vineyard was planted in 1997 and this is the 3rd vintage LFC has made. A white clear color. I was told this was an ageworthy wine but this did not improve at all in the 1.5 years that I bought it. It held it's own though. Still had good acidity balanced with moderate sweetness. Note of white pepper, peach and lychee. 88 points.

  • Very nice Riesling. Good fruit and acidity, even a little spritz to make it playful. It will be hard to hold the other two bottles to see how it does in a few years.

This is, in my opinion, the Michigan vineyard with the best, most consistent white wines.
