Community Tasting Notes (7) Avg Score: 92.5 points

  • On the way to maturity but could still benefit from a few more years. Nice cherry and bacon nose, plenty of garrigue, still a little tannin but nice meaty red fruits. Solid wine.

  • Shaping up beautifully. Deep bacony nose that develops intense liquorice with time, loads of gamy fruit on the nose. At the vigorous end of maturity though a decade of development still ahead of it. Fruit, game, liquorice, herbs - classic and gorgeous Cote Rotie.

  • Opening up well red fruit, a bit of garrigue and smoke on the nose - berry red flavour with a sauvage edge, thickening to gravy tones. Balanced but keen acidity here.

  • Good to go straight from the bottle. Lush nose of heather, grouse, licorice, black fruit and incense leading into a palate of lovely fruit and super structure. Still tannic with a pleasant acidity, the midpalate and finish on this are strong, long and persistent. Definitely young but oh so good.

Better stop drinking this, as I am currently the largest owner listed on CT! Many many years to go - at least 15 or more. Damnably good.

  • Still very youthful. Decanted and for the first couple of hours it tasted like a good, immature Rhone but with little Cote Rotie character. Only in the third hour did things start to develop. Nose of red fruits with some menthol and liquorice, a little game but not pronounced and no Rotie 'bacon fat' as yet. Similar things with the flavour, plenty of chalk and cherries for the first couple of hours and then something darker, more primal began to develop. Liquorice again, a touch of meat and a hint of herbs. This is potentially better that this score but needs more time.
