Community Tasting Notes (2)

  • Failed to have this with roast chicken. Had with spinach and garlic stuffed pizza. It actually paired rather well. Notes similar to last time, and an excellent wine all around.

  • Had last night with pasta carbonara. The pairing was rather incongruous, but both were fantastic. The wine was a dark plumb color fading to the rim. Aromas of dark red fruits and herbs (specifically thyme). Highly structured on the palate like I expect a Loire cab franc to be, but it had a real lushness to it. No tannins on the finsh, so decant off the sediment. Next time I'll have this with roast chicken, or something more appropriate...

Rockss and Fruit

(Olga Raffault Chinon "La Popliniere") This is just a hint of things to come for the beautiful '02 Loire vintage. Nose of raspberry, cranberry, touch of that classic Chinon green, earl grey tea & earth. Classic aromas. Palate is very lush with raspberry fruit, fine grained tannins and pretty sappy fruit in the middle and on the finish. Great length and minerality. Very clean and pure.
