The Best Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru Dinner (State Street Manor - Chicago IL): Alongside the 2002. Lots of red cherry and berry, some black fruit hints, all well spiced. Long, bright and elegant, even if not the level of power or concentration as the 2002. It's a great dinner when this is the worst wine.

Pure, intense black cherry with remarkable spice. Incredible purity of black and red cherry laced with an array of spices. Seamlessness across the youthful, delicious palate.

Asian Spice Night, Brûlées Edition (State Street Manor - Chicago IL): In 99/01/02 vertical. Floral start, well supported by both savory and sweet spice, all behind incredibly elegant red cherry and berry. A wine of amazing grace and nuance, with sneaky power and length, but the balance and elegance are the superstars here (vs 2002's more hedonistic beauty). This is a wine that has almost always thrilled me, and tonight's bottle was one of the best I can ever recall. Good now through probably 2030. .

Asian Spice (Chicago, IL): 99/01/02 vertical. A more restrained and elegant version of the 2002. The aromas here are stunning and so addicting in how the nose keeps pulling you back for more sniffs. As intense and complex as the 2002 but does not have the same richness and plushness of fruit. A killer wine in its own right. Should hold for a 5-10 years in this form.

Shows some volatile acidity but also lots of breed and sophistication.
