Wonderful wine. I have wondered about the ageability of the sangio's from Pride, no longer. This was compared side by side with the 2005 Pride sangio. The 97 has losted the Spring mountain big smooth vanilla tannins and has developed much more varietel character. This will still never be confused with an Italian grown sangio but a wonderful hommage to its brethern across the pond. Nice rasberry, and brush on the nose, medium bodied with a long lingering finish of dark red fruit, cedar and anise. THe finish goes and on. Alas this is the last of the 1997 the agibility question will await some of the other vinitages.
What the 2005 lacks in varietal character it more than makes up for with uncious mouth feel, 'classic' spring mountain vanilla tannins that are smooth and well integrated. It will be interesting to see how this developes over time.

RICH BLACKBERRY AND RASPBERRY FRUIT JUST JUMPED OUT OF THE GLASS. VERY IMPRESSIVE WITH NICE COMPLEXITY AND A MEDIUM TO LONG FINISH.
