167eme Edition, some years sleeping in my wine fridge, based mostly on the 2011 vintage, great smell of ripe pears, apples, warm bread crest though, great supporting acid still, all this very lively rolling over the palate, no way tired, stunning tension here, great creamy long aftertaste, enjoy or hold, ***(* +?), around 93(+) potential

A 375 of the 168– truly a wonderful Krug which shows fairly early in the evening compared with many others—especially the 167. Much more toast, brioche, warm mellifluous notes than the 167. And while the 167 was brilliant the next day, this wine showed class, depth and mouthfeel from the outset, without any sense that it will not develop even more complexity in time. Some apple, a bit of lemon on top fo the pirmary notes.

Had this in cellar for 11yrs, probably mid 90's MV...the cork came out with zero pop...no signs of bubble life. Left open for an hour before checking it out before our dinner...a backup Salon was in waiting. Seemed ok...some marsala and apricot jam...tiny tiny bubbles, with a very nice line of sour tart lemon citrus...the oxidativeness was not overwhelming, and there was some very unique aged flavors of spice, nuts, and florals coming through...and that citrus was charging. So, decided to go with it to dinner. At dinner when I took the stopper out...HUGE POP...there are the bubbles! This thing was awake now! Still plenty baked apples and caramel apples...fig jam, apricot...dried honey...the bubbles a little more playful, and a nice marsala creme mousse...but BOY that lemon citrus was nice to see, and it really lifted the old bugger. Drank well throughout the evening, never fading. Personally I'm not a huge huge fan of old ox wines...like a little more freshness and zip...but this was a nice satisfying bottle.

(NV Krug Champagne Grande Cuvée Brut) A Chardonnay-based blend of as many as 10 different vintages, primarily from grand cru vineyards. Krug’s tête de cuvée, like the wines of Bollinger, is first barrel-fermented in neutral oak. Golden yellow in color, it has fresh, bold aromas of Bosc pear, Macintosh apples, nutmeg, and lemon meringue. On the palate, it is full-bodied and rich with caramel, earth, and baking spices. The finish is long. The Shifting Landscape of Champagne
(NV Krug Champagne Brut Grande Cuvée) Bright golden yellow color; focused lemon and lemon peel nose; tangy, focused tart lemon, mineral and lime palate with good acidity; medium-plus finish (best pairing with the gravlax)
(NV Krug) New label which is kind of boring and even ugly. Old label was really classy. Don't know what they were thinking. If it ain't broke don't fix it. The wine was gorgeous. Just gets better every time I have it. Easily one of the most conisistent wineries in the world. Massive concentration allied with a seamlessness and utterly mindlowing complexity.
