A lot of sediment in the bottle - decanting highly recommended.
Somewhat maroon dark ruby color - the age is starting to show. Somewhat developed and extremely attractive nose with somewhat animal aromas of withered flowers, wizened dark berries, violets, some plum marmalade, a little coffee chocolate, a hint of leather and a touch of barnyard. Quite dry, somewhat developed and quite full-bodied palate with complex, robust and somewhat animal - yet not that rustic - flavors of juicy dark berries, withered flowers, some prunes, a little leather and a delicate hint of violets. The wine has quite prominent and somewhat grippy, yet also moderately resolved and easy tannins and moderately high acidity, giving the wine good structure, focus and brightness. Alcohol shows a little. The finish is very long, persistent and somewhat mouth-drying with fine, rich tannins and complex, moderately developed and long-lingering flavors of leather, not-sweet plum compote, leather, some boysenberries and a hint of mocha or smoke.
This is a spectacular Priorat wine exhibiting wonderful harmony between concentration, vibrant fruit flavors and wonderfully balanced structure of tannins and acidity.. Though not that old, the wine is starting, little by little, show some more mature characteristics with more obvious floral, leathery and coffee-like nuances that were absent in the younger vintages. Still going uphill, but most likely the so-called "plateau of maturity" is not that far away. Open after 3-5 years of aging, or keep for a decade or two. Very highly recommended.

The New Traditional Winter Dinner - 1st one (Ulf and Maria S, Umeå, Sweden): Was actually hoping for more...
The heavy weighht champ of the evening and did its good deeds wih the meat plate.
Would benefit from a few more years on its belly.
Perfect with Ulf's cooking.
