  • Excellent. 13.5% alc. Classic Hunter and great wine thoughtcrimes compared to the Founders Block Coonawarra cabinet by Katnook that we had last night, it's very expensive for what it is.
    Colour: lightish red berries
Bouquet: light touches of savoury mint and oak
Palate: fuller mint, vanilla oak, dark brambly fruits, blueberries, some spice, earth and leather. All beautiful and seamlessly integrated though with dusty very dry fine grained tannins and long finish. Opens out with breathing to be quite substantial but it lacks the depth and voluptuousness of a Coonawarra like last night. A classic lighter savoury Hunter style.

  • Opened my first of a pair of these I’ve had in the cellar. Quality evident from the first whiff, but surprised that the palate was still only primary fruit (as good as that was!). Won’t even think about opening the 2 bottle for 5+ years, but looking forward to it.

  • 2007 Vintage Tasting (Bronte, Sydney): rich ruby red
attractive fragrance, seamless blend of ripe plummy fruit, earthy tones and dark spice. oak very well integrated.
Excellent structure, silky yet powerful. A clean long finish with nicely refined tannins. well integrated dark fruit, earth and spice. in a great place now, could go 5 more though.

  • Nice wine. Typical Hunter Valley with red fruits, plums and earth. The fruit is fresh and lively. The tannins are a touch dusty. The wine is medium bodied with a nice long dry finish. It will definitely improve from here,

  • Drank young because of concerns over dinted screwcap (to me a largely overlooked but significant problem with screwcaps). Impenetrable purple. Initially closed nose that opened up quite well after 2 hr decant and time in glass. Notes of red and dark fruit, violets, blueberry, earth and leather. Lush, intense red and dark fruit with well integrated oak. Considering the youth, actually quite approachable now with soft tannin. Long and savoury finish. (94 Excellent wine)
