Dark fruit, lots of sediment. Cork fully intact (unusual for these older Lewis Syrah). If you like older Syrah this is not past it, if anything still drinking young. Mostly big plummy fruit and black pepper, some savory gamey notes. Not as complex as I would have expected although have not had this exact vintage before (have had much older and younger) so just not that exciting for me. I didn’t rate because under the circumstances we were not paying close attention to the wine so it could just be me!!!

I wondered how much gas in the tank this would have? The answer is plenty. Drinking very well with dark fruit, integrated tanins and a long smooth finish. Popped and poured and it got better and better as it warmed and got air.

Superb dark and earthy fruit right out of the bottle. Seemed to fade a bit after an hour or 2 in the decanter. Would drink now with either no decant or just a splash decant

4th Saturday Group: Uptown Brown Bag (R&Ds): From magnum, courtesy of our hosts. Dark color with notes of white pepper and candied red fruit. Tends towards dark fruit on the palate, along with pepper and roasted game flavors. Very tasty.

Still drinking well. Dark fruit with no hint of fade. Smooth tannins with some earthiness. Medium finish. Think it’s time to drink up.
