  • Really long and tight cork. Shy nose displaying subtle sweet red fruit that you get in mature Burgundy, soy, rose, strong sous bois, cep and earth. Medium concentration, shy but very sweet red fruit, earthy and delicate, medium acidity, earthy mineral, and a medium long sweet red fruit driven finish with sous bois and soy at the end. Although there is no madeirization yet, it is a bit over the hill. It is always interesting to taste these mature Burgundies.

  • French and Italian wine gathering (The Grill Room at Rosewood DC): Only Adouzed for three hours, decadent yet delicate nose and palate. Definitely showing the age. Shy nose displaying sweet yellow fruits, caramel and a hint of cognac. Fully integrated palate with good length. This may have shown better with more air. A couple folks dump immediately. For my palate, correctly cellared and quite enjoyable. The wine like this is really subjective. You have to really wonder the success rate that is claimed in a wine dinner with extreme old wines. Interestingly this came from Rudy’s cellar and my guess is that it was used to counterfeit the 62 DRCs. I plan to open a bottle at home and observe over 24 hours.

  • Very nice. Bottle was leaking and significant ullage. With the Burgers. Little fruit left but beautiful burgundy nose. Earth and forest. Acidic finish that grew as the night went on.

  • This was a brilliant bottle of wine, and shows how good classic, well-made and well-aged Pommard can be. The power and refinement was brilliant. Marvelous wine. (Commerce)
