  • another good bottle, again the cork was densley stained at the base, but only about 1/4 inch. It was dull at the outset with a bullion smell that took at least an hour to dissipate. It became a bright garnet with pronounced smokiness. Leaner than the typical California cab and a firm structure. It will last a long time, but not likely to get better.

  • Tasted blind, this wine had a medium, deep red center and orange rims. The medium+ intensity nose offered up tar, cassis, dusty cherries, and some plums.

In the mouth, this wine was well balanced. It had light, rounded tannin and medium- length.

Overall, this wine seemed pretty good but a bit filtered and over-processed. It will last but is unlikely to improve.

  • Bottle and fill were excellent, the cork was barely stained at the base, but very dry and crumbled upon extraction. A dark wine and somewhat dull initially, it gradually opened up with leather, plums, mint and dirt. It needed about an hour to shrug off its dust and funk. Excellent with beef and enough structure for stewed tomatoes, this wine held up well over 2 hours. Tannins resolved and not unlike a Bordeaux, but for the mint. Vey nice aged cab, getting on in years, but still fine.
