Splash decanted. Clear, deep ruby. On the nose: Blackberry, coffee bean, vanilla oak, blackcurrant, earth, graphite. A hint of irises showing initially, and some savoury notes wafting in and out with air. On the palate: Medium+ acidity, medium+ body, medium+ intensity of blackberry, blackcurrant, earth, coffee bean, woody oak. Medium+ grippy tannins, medium+ finish. A pretty, surprisingly beguiling nose, with secondary notes emerging now. A touch simpler on the palate, though by no means one-dimensional. Tannins have yet to fully integrate. The wine could use a little more time - but may be near peak. Would look to drink up in 2019-2020.

Tasted with steak, magnum pour. A fine and smooth wine, with some traces of nuts, herbs, leather. Bright with a slight finish that doesnt detract from its stature.

Mijavile's 2nd year at the helm of this estate, this is a colder terroir than Tertre Rotebeouf (more in land) and Roc de Cambes (at the river). 85% Merlot 15% Cabernet Franc. 85% new barrels. Found it very round, sweet and plummy. Still a bit green around the edges. This goes with the 'house' style - ripe late harvested grapes.

Ok, a bit thin and green in the background, like many 2008, not very memorable.
