  • Just lovely, and to my palate, made differently from the way the wines are made now. Not better, but different. Hard ot imagine this wine when it was young as having the kind of extraction, density, and color that the (beautiful) young Gonon wines have today. This one is ruby colored and built in a decidedly light/middle weight style, and there is nothing wasted. Gamy in a way that reminded me of what that guy (Livingstone?) wrote: good wine from the N Rhone should smell like the inside of a freshly skinned rabbit. But this wine also showed a beautiful floral side, and remnants of very pretty fruit. A beautiful nose, and the palate follows through with good focus and intensity, complexity and detail, and the wine really resonates after swallowing. I loved this wine and will be very curious to see what today's Gonon wines become when they approach this age.

  • Elegant. Garrigue, olive, still expressive and hints of acid. On the downward slope but bottle showed well.

  • Old, musty, corked. Annoyed.

  • Interesting nose of roast beef, saddle leather and a touch of violets. Tannins are fully resolved. Blueberries and a sense of minerals on the palate. Has good grip and excellent length.
