  • Very difficult to score. This was a very different and extreme Kiwi Sauv Blanc. I would have rated this a little higher but my wife couldn't finish it at all.
Very smoky and grassy bouquet with strong citrus notes. Medium Bodied and very complex. Too much Acidity and a very strong grapefruit citrus -- too much grapefruit for my taste creating a very bitter and lingering after taste. Lots of minerality and herbs underneath the citrus that were interesting and often pleasant but really not compensating for the bitter notes.

  • Chilled, popped and poured. This had a nose that first reminded me of raw peanut - - very green and delicious - - followed by more raw green grassy notes. I hadn't even tasted it yet and I was wishing I would have bought more.

This is not your typical citrus/grapefruit NZ SB. The first taste out of the bottle I had a light hit of coconut milk that was surprising, but I never tasted it again. The palate is quite complex, but light and very easy to drink. There is plenty of crushed gravelly mineral notes, along with nice balanced, clean fruit to cleanse your palate. It leaves you with a touch of lime peel, mineral and dryness that is very refreshing. This is a crowd pleaser.

    Delicious!

  • A strong, green pungent nose, a little sweaty. Dry and bitter in the mouth, this has over the top typicity, a Kiwi Sauvignon Blanc on steroids! Although it's reasonably well made this style is not my favourite. 84-85pts.

  • Walker Trade Show (Providence): Bright, clean, and well done.

  • This is Yealands Estates premium sauvignon blanc from their initial vintage release. It is from fruit from selected blocks from the Seaview Vineyard. This is a very elegant, restrained and classical style wine. I thought it more like a cross between a Sancerre and a Chablis than a typical NZ Sauvignon Blanc. It had minerality, crushed shells and rocks, some citrus framing it underneath. This would be very fine with lighter seafood fare. It's about $19 US and a buy at that.

BTW, these folks have an amazing website.
