  Decanted off moderate amount of fine sediment. Pale garnet color with medium transparency throughout and some bricking at the rim. Aromas of loam, smoke, spice, cherry, and some underbrush lead to a palate with a dark and spicy fruit presentation that shows some strawberry notes with time in the glass. Finish is medium. This is more tertiary than secondary but holding some red fruit to keep it from being "old wine". Nice, maybe preferred it a few years ago but balance remains for this to deliver at this level for some time. Drink or hold.

  Pale garnet color with medium transparency. Aromas of smoky strawberry, earth, and beet. Beets, strawberries, rhubarb, and tart cherry cascade over a earthy sous bois and mushroom element that makes for a very satisfying and inviting drink now. The finish is long and this wine invites you back to the glass. Drink or hold.
