garnet edges, still ruby, good currant fruit overlaid with complex age character, with cedar, herbs, hint of caramel in background, good mouth feel and finish

Hans Kruger Classic (Suite 100): Hmm, my birthyear and out of magnum. Lets see what this offered! Surprisingly still rich with lots of black, bold fruit, rich and chocolatey. Very similar in style to new vints from Caymus. Black currants, spices, touch of menthol. A touch on the flabby side, overall. The tannins are pretty restrained and probably at or near its peak. Opens up to more dried fruits, fig, fruitcake. Pretty interesting. On par with the '78 Mondavi from mag.

Caymus Estate Tasting 1982 to 1987 (Walnut Creek, Ca.): This bottle of 1983 showed a slight orange color, probably due to poor storage, nose of black berry, very rich, lovely fruit, medium/big body, long finish with hints of tannins that will outlive the fruit, my #6 of 6.

Cork required the Durand but had no seepage issues. Wine was a great California cab well aged showing beautifully.
