CdT tasting at Phenol. Line-up of Beaune Grèves. Very fun. Wines were quite distinct.
Beaune 1er Cru Grèves, Vigne de L'Enfant Jesus, Bouchard Père et Fils 2016 - U3. Young. U4 potential. Light and layered, but still muted. One of JF's favorites of night.
Beaune 1er Cru Grèves, Joseph Drouhin 2015. U2. Too young, but has potential of '09. Took a while to open.
Beaune 1er Cru Grèves, Vigne de L'Enfant Jesus, Bouchard Père et Fils 2012. P3. Heavier than '16 but still a nice, layered wine.
Beaune 1er Cru Grèves, Joseph Drouhin 2012. Strong Y3. Great nose. Less finish.
Beaune 1er Cru Grèves, Joseph Drouhin 2009. G3/R4. Would not have picked as CdB in blind tasting.
Beaune 1er Cru Grèves, Joseph Drouhin 2006. G3. Stemmy/cork on nose, which some really disliked. I would drink this wine anytime.
Beaune 1er Cru Grèves, Domaine de Montille 2005. R3. More subtle than expected. Beautiful structure, but everything tuned down. Maybe bc last wine of night?

Förvånansvärt mörkt röd och inte helt klar. Underbara tertiära aromer som nästan för tankarna åt syrah. Fin struktur med medel tanniner, och mest framträdande frukt är körsbär. Mycket bra.

Tight nose but open palate that gains weight with air. As with many 2005s this needs time to loosen its formidable structure and show its inherent complexity.

Beaune Greves is a fine wine, even if one could ask for a bit more depth and complexity. Ready to go now.
