  • Stone fruit, red berry, earth, violets, and pepper on the nose. The palate has darker fruit, earth and minerals and still reminds you of a minor Northern Rhone. Unsurprisingly pairs well with steak! Very Good.

  • Nice and 'Crozey'. My last note compared this to a St. Joseph. This time it seems richer, without the suppleness of a S.J., hence Crozes. You got your bacon fat, spice and fruits though not that complex. Ranks with the finest syrahs at this price point (@$20.00 circa 2010) that I have had. Should age a few years too. Maybe, in a few years it will combine the characteristics of the two notes and get to be compared to a 'minor Hermitage'. It's possible with this one... Very good.

  • Nose has improved greatly from last summer - Red berries, earth, violets, pepper, yes pepper! but with a hint of heat. On the palate a mix of cranberry, blueberry, earth and minerals. Perhaps too much cranberry but for the price it's quite a nice drinker. It reminds me of wines from St. Joseph or Northern Rhone Vin de Pays - great slurpers, especially with food, lots of character, but no transcendence. Very Good!
