  Slow O'ed for an hour and then decanted...still dark red in color with no signs of bricking...some red fruit at first with an earthy finish...past its prime, but not dead yet...fun to drink for what it is.

  Deep, dark red without bricking. Nice nose of dark Napa fruit, smoke and oak. Palate somewhat disjointed, with tannins dominating the fruit. Doubt will improve with more time.

  Drinking much better than it was when I tried a previous bottle a year or two ago. Deep, dark purple color. Very nice, leathery nose and still plenty of tannins (so much so that I'll wait a couple of more years to drink my last bottle) and fruit. Coming together quite nicely after all. Nice job, Nils!

  Popped and poured. Dark purple color, no bricking. On the nose, cassis, cranberries, oak and some chocolate with some vegetal components. On the palate, black cherries, currents, and caramelly oak. Mid palate is a bit hollow as heavy tannins kick in on the finish. While this is pretty structured, it's unbalanced as the tannins dominate the finish with a strong drying effect. That said, the fruit is nicely extracted and the tannins mellow a bit with some air. This wine could benefit from some more cellaring - the tannins need to integrate a little more and the fruit still has enough staying power. Rating gives this the benefit of the doubt for potential and could go up a fair bit if things get more in balance over time.
