  • Decanted roughly 1 hour and consumed over the following 3 hours. Moderately deep garnet-red with significant fading at the rim. It looked more like a well-aged Burgundy at 20 years than a CdP. On the nose the wine, for me, was a complete surprise. It's elegant, ripe, rich, and subtle, again more like something I'd expect from a top Premier Cru Burgundy, though the aromas are very CdP with garrique, iron, warm-weather herbs, blood, and beautiful deep red fruit. On the palate the elegance continues, along with a deep, almost silky palate impression. Despite the lighter color than I expected for a CdP the fruit is deep and so nicely balanced with silky tannin and savory acidity. The finish is a tad short but that's only a slight ding to what is otherwise a beautifully mature wine.

  • Designated "Silex Lettre." Within the four year sequence of strong southern Rhone vintages, from 1998-2001, the 2000s are often overshadowed, because they are the least concentrated and jammy. This example is calm, balanced, almost Burgundian in understatement, but with no shortage of site character and soil presence. Lavender, garrigue and galets on the nose. Gentle fruit sweetness; satisfying (not massive) texture. For my taste, showing very well now.

  • I liked the wine, beutifull blood color, balance tanins and nice soft fruit. Short in the after taste.

  • This obscure wine is only made in select vintages and in very small amounts, about 100 cases give or take. Filled with herbs, black cherries and blackberries, this concentrated, unctuous style of wine has a lot to like.
