DOUBLE MAGNUM Tawny appearance, clear, bright and speckled. Not camphor but coal tar, wet clay and fish oil (iodine?). Ethereal, delicate red fruits and leaf matter. Delicate and lifted but in no way decrepit. Wow! Such sweetness and intensity on the attack, like redcurrants. Spicy and tangy, lively and savoury with some toasty touches – richness that evokes old farmhouse cider. Brilliant, genuinely pleasurable and a real treat!

This was tasted amongst 88 other wines (every year from 1964 through 2014) at a 50 years of wine party along with 150 invited guests in Nov 2014. There are numerous notes which I am just getting to post (now Dec 2015).
Tasted from (4) total double magnum's with consistent & similar notes. This was WOTN for wines from the 60's. Fabulous aroma's of blackberry, cooking cherries, and cassis, muted but present. Remarkably sweet and long in the finish (plus 30 seconds) for a wine of this age. If you can find one I highly recommend this one.

Richter Raritäten Degu (Restaurant Farnsburg, Switzerland): From double magnum, nice sweetness, some of the usual mature bordeaux notes and a long finish
