  • Incredibly, this Russian River Valley pinot noir continues to age beautifully. I agree completely with TOMOEM's tasting note from 2018. I remember that this wine had an incredibly fragrant nose upon release. While much of that is gone, the elegant palate is just as memorable.

  • Drank from a magnum. Simply fabulous !
The wine was decanted for 6 hours and then poured so I believe this is the correct amount of time for this to show these notes.

Aromatic nose with notes of cherries, and some freshly laid asphalt. The immediate flavors are darker fruits with black cherry and plum. The mid palette morphed into strawberry and sweeter fruits red fruits. The finish is a fully resolved wine with nearly no acidic reaction on the finish. Finish is medium length and very smooth.

  • Very fragrant pinot, shared with a friend watching Giants vs. Niners. From the first sip reminded me of Kosta wines. Must have been the bouquet. Really good wine. Cork looked heavy stained but when dried faded to maroon. Had a brandy smell to it also. Legs ran fast, then seemed to come down from rim if in unison. Lots of fine legs. Fruit and some other scents. Not as dense feeling as Kosta but very refined. Some sting on the tongue but not alcohol, felt almost like granache. Friend really liked also. For entry level wine, very nice. Lots of material in this wine. Other scents undefinable. Kept wanting to taste this wine, a good sign. Later took a separate path form my initial impression of Kosta Browne. Martinelli knows how to craft a fine wine. Would go another five years easy and I think I have one more that I will let age as long. I would prefer to drink the remaining bottle in 2017. Recommended. My favorite pinots out of Cali are Kosta, Sea Smoke, Dumol, and Martinelli. Waiting to have my first Roar pinot to see how that stacks up as they owners own Rosellas vineyard I think.

  • Nose of pencil shavings, blueberries, and maple syrup. Palate of dark cherries, cassis, and pencil shavings (again). Light acidity on the finish. Very rich Pinot; very Martinelli.
