Rich concentrated fruit. Black currants, blackberries, black cherries, chocolate, licorice and hints of herbalness and floral. Well structured wine with nice complexity, full bodied, and a medium to long finish.

Drunk mostly sans gastric accoutrements. Punch-in-the-nose overripe bouquet, bordering on scandalous. Blackest fruit, cola, balsamic, leather, pie. Wood almost fully integrated, tannins waving goodbye on horizon. A marriage on the rocks, spouses in different beds. Bit flabby & disjointed, it wants to be so much more than it is. Enjoyable in the end, but divergence splitting it at the seams. It would seem.

End of a bottle the had been open for a few hours. Lots of sediment, seems past it's prime. Black fruit, balsamic streak, tannins thinned out. Good wine but drink now.

A bit on the fruit-subdued side for B&H, no doubt the bottle age assisted in that. Not as big or bold of a juice that one expects from the label either. Perhaps the late-night pairing with cheese & cold cuts was the problem ... although this didn't seem like it would pair brilliantly with a fatty steak either.
