This has some nice potential. Dark fruit with an earthy nose. Strong tannins, that recede with air. Good acidity and black and blue fruit. Some oak spice. A little out of balance, too much heat for the ABV. But wiith some more bottle time, this might be a great QPR if it comes together.

Chateau Cazat-Beauchene is located in the town of Petit Palais right north of Saint-Georges-Saint-Emilion AOC. The Chateau is the reunion of Chateau Cazat and Chateau Beauchêne after WWII. A blend of 70% Merlot, 15% Cabernet Sauvignon and 15% Cabernet Franc grown on clay and limestone soil. Thermoregulation to preserve the fruit-forward aromas with 3-week maceration, micro-oxygenation until the end of the malolactic-fermentation and ageing in French oak for 7 months. A dense ruby purple color with an aromatic nose of black currants, dark cherry and plum with a hint of oak and vanilla. A medium to full bodied wine from the warm 05 vintage with excellent concentration, more black cherry fruit flavors and no hard edges. It is drinking very well right now. About $13 US retail.
